An online forum is a virtual message board located on a website on the internet. An online forum might also be called a message board. Online forums vary in size, shape, form and function. The online forum called Simpleboard Forum Component can be quite difficult to handle.
In order to post on the message board you must first create an account. You may do so by first opening the homepage, then click on “Create one” under Login Form on the left menu. The page will forward to an online registration form where you will need to provide your name, your username choice, your e-mail and your password choice. Once you have entered these fields, press the “Send Registration” button. If you have entered valid information, you will be forwarded to the Registration Complete page which will include the message, “You may now login.”
Now that you have registered at the website, you may now login using the form on the left menu. Enter your username and your password and then click the “Login” button. The page will refresh and you will be logged into the website. You might notice a few changes to the homepage including a menu on the left titled “Message Board”. The links under the “Message Board” menu lead to specific post on the online forum. You may click on these links to read existing messages on the online forum.
To post a new topic you must visit the online forum’s page. Under the “Message Board” menu, there is another menu titled “Main Menu”. In the “Main Menu” list there is a link titled “Message Board.” Upon clicking the “Message Board” link, you will be forwarded to the online forum’s page. The online forum is divided into many different categories. Each category contains posts on a similar subject. Click on the title of one of the categories which you would like to post your message. You will be forwarded to that category’s page. On the category’s page, just above the list of posts on the left, click on the link “post new topic.” You will be forwarded to the “post a new message” page. On this page, there is a form which will allow you to post a message by entering in a subject, your message, and then clicking the submit button.
Before you submit your message, you have many options you may utilize to enhance your post. You may select a topic icon which will represent your message on the category’s page. Below the topic icon option is the standard toolbar for editing your message. If you chose to bold a portion of your message, you may do so by clicking the “B” button and then write that part of your message. When you are done with the section you would like to bold, click the “B” button again to end the bolding. You may do this method for the italics (i), underline (u), quote (Quote), and code (Code) options. The “ul” button, the “ol” button, and the “li” buttons are used to bullet or number lines. First, you may press either the “ul” button (for bullets) or the “ol” button (to number). For paragraph or line that you would like to bullet or number, press the “li” button. When concluding this section of your message, press your choice button again to end the formatting. You may also choose the color and the font size using those options on the “boardcode” line.
Under the message textbox, there are options to attach a file or an image. To add an image or a file to your message, click the “Browse” button respectively and locate that file or image on your computer. Click the file or image you would like to add and click the “open” button. Another option you have is to subscribe to the post. If you chose to subscribe by selecting the checkbox, you will receive an e-mail each time someone replies to your post. Before you submit your message, you have the option to preview your message or to cancel your message. You may do so by clicking the respective option.
